Injuries Starting To Play A Part In Baseball Betting Futures
Major league Baseball is not the most attractive sport for gamblers. Among the major sports, baseball is behind the NFL, NBA, and college football and basketball when it comes to most of the betting public.
Baseball futures, however, are a different story. Gamblers do enjoy placing bets before the season on how many games a team will win, and which teams will make it to the post season. This year, many of these bets could be directly affected by the amount of injuries that are piling up around the league.
Just yesterday, Roy Halladay and Jake Peavy, two pitchers who are the ace of their staffs, both found out they will be missing some time. Halladay was pulled in the fourth inning with a groin injury, and Peavy will be out for up to twelve weeks with a foot injury. That is bad news for any gamblers who bet on season win totals for the Padres or Blue Jays.
Two other major stars, Jose Reyes of the Mets, and Grady Sizemore of the Indians, are also on the disabled list. These two will have more of an effect on bettors who wagered on either of these teams to reach the playoffs.
In addition to the major stars that are missing time, there are also a rash of mid-level players who are in and out of the line-up on a daily basis because of nagging injuries. These players are also having an affect on daily baseball betting.
The Major League season is not even at the all star break, and already injuries have been a factor in the gambling world. With more than a half of a season to go, there is plenty of times for these injured players to gain back their health. The question will be, what other players will go down and cost gamblers their future bets?
