Jets Gambling Total For Season Jumps To Eight And A Half
The New York Jets are hoping that acquiring Brett Favre in a trade yesterday improved their chances of making the playoffs. They now must determine if nine wins will be good enough in the AFC.
That is the magic number for the Jets. Their season betting win total for the upcoming season shot up from seven to eight and a half. That means that odds makers are predicting that the Jets win either eight or nine games.
It also indicates that one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history is worth about a game and a half at this point in his career. Not exactly the results that the Jets are looking for.
Although it is unlikely, the Jets are hoping that Favre's presence will automatically raise the level of play around him. They are banking on his experience to lead a team that severely underachieved last year.
The Jets are still thirty to one longshot's to win the Super Bowl. Those odds are long, and even the addition of Favre has not changed odds makers minds about the top three teams in the AFC.
The Patriots, Chargers, and Colts are widely considered to be not only the best teams in the NFC, but all of the league. With those three teams at the top, New York will just be hoping to keep pace with the rest of the conference.
