Justin Rose Takes Memorial; Gamblers Betting On Tiger Lose Again
The Memorial was supposed to be a tournament that Tiger Woods could use to regain his old form. It is a tournament that Woods has won several times in the past, and one where Woods has been extremely comfortable.
This year, Woods did not show that comfort. Instead, he struggled through another sub par four rounds and watched as Justin Rose came from four shots back to win the Memorial. Rose tapped in for par on the eighteenth to win the title.
"I've had a few close calls over time, and you start to sometimes wonder why you can't get it done,' said Rose, as reported by The associated Press. Now, Rose will no longer have to feel the pain that comes with coming close and not winning.
Woods, on the other hand, is costing bettors a lot of money in his return to golf following his stay in a sexual addiction treatment facility. Woods has not performed well, and the odds of him winning have still remained high, a bad combination for gamblers.
At the Memorial, Woods ended Sunday's round with a 72. That finish caused Woods to finish nineteenth for the tournament, nowhere near the top of the leader board. Woods did comment on his stamina and his ability to now play four rounds of golf without fatigue or pain.
Now that the Memorial is behind them, pro golfers will turn their attention towards the US Open. Woods will be playing at the Open, and there is a strong chance that he is made the betting favorite by the sports books. Phil Mickelson, who shot a 69 Sunday, will also be considered a favorite.
