Kansas Jayhawks And Memphis Tigers Gambling On Underdog Roles

The Kansas Jayhawks and Memphis Tigers have been two of the most dominant college basketball teams this season. That fact makes it hard to explain how both have used the underdog role to get to tonight's championship game.

The Memphis Tigers have one loss on this season. their only defeat came on the road, against the best team in the SEC, Tennessee. they lost that game in the final seconds.

Even though they have dominated everybody else they played, they still had more than their share of doubters. First, people thought Texas would beat them. Then, after they crushed the Longhorns, they got to hear how UCLA was a better team.

They responded to that by dominating the Bruins in the semi finals of the NCAA tournament. Now, they enter tonight's championship game as the most underrated one loss team in the sports history.

Their opponent knows a bit about not getting respect also. The Kansas Jayhawks were also a team that was picked against in many brackets. The consensus was there was no way they could get by the mighty Tar Heels.

All they did to squash that talk was build an insurmountable mid twenty point lead in their semi final game. They then held off a Carolina run, and finished strong on their way to the title game.

Now, both teams will have nowhere left to hide. they can no longer be considered underdogs, and both are expected to put on a show in the national championship. One of these two teams will become this year's champion, and will shed that underdog title forever.
