Kobe Does His Part, Now NBA Bettors Wait On LeBron
The NBA has been dreaming of this match up since the season began. With both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers favored to win their conferences for most of the year, a Lebron James versus Kobe Bryant finals was always in sight.
The first two rounds of the playoffs went according to form, with James and the Cavaliers sweeping through both Detroit and Atlanta. Bryant and the Lakers had trouble in the second round with Houston, but emerged victorious.
That brings us to the conference finals. Surprisingly, it is the Lakers who have clinched a trip to the finals first by beating Denver 4-2. The Cavs, on the other hand, are in danger of being bounced by the Orlando Magic.
James pulled off one of the greatest performances in NBA playoff history in helping his team stave off elimination in game five. He will now have to do the same Superman act in game six, only this time the game will be in Orlando.
While the Cavaliers cling to their playoff lives, the NBA holds its breath. They are so close to that dream final featuring the two best players in the world.
Whether or not Cleveland gets over the hump is in the hands of James' surrounding cast, and also in the hands of a solid Magic team. Even if the Cavaliers fall short, the NBA can take comfort in knowing at least one half of their dream match up will be appearing in the finals.
