Lakers Gambling On Bynum Starting Tonight Against Nuggets
The key to this season for the Los Angeles Lakers was toughness. To a man, the Lakers decided after losing to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals that they had to get tougher. Andrew Bynum was going to be a big key to accomplishing that goal.
The season started strong for the Lakers, and early on they looked as though they were the team to beat this year. Bynum was playing like an all star, and everything was going right for L.A.
Then Bynum was injured, much like he was for the second half of last season. What started as a change in culture, had the chance to turn back into what was missing in last year's finals, toughness. Los Angeles fought through the time when Bynum was out, however, and are just one game behind Cleveland for home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Tonight, the Lakers get their muscle back. Bynum has recovered from his injury and will return to the lineup tonight against the Nuggets, who coincidentally are currently the second seed in the Western Conference.
The fact that the Lakers get Bynum back with a few games left in the regular season is big for a team who all year has simply been preparing for another deep playoff run. Now that they are back at full strength, the Lakers may once again be the favorites to win the championship this season.
