Las Vegas Resort And College Basketball Coming Together On FSN

Major sports in the US like to pretend that gambling is not a valuable part in their popularity. There are many cases, however, that show that this theory is not supported by all.

FSN is now pushing the envelope of the gambling controversy by taping a show starring two of college basketball's biggest personalities at a Las Vegas resort. Wynn Resort will be the setting for a college basketball show featuring Billy Packer and Bobby Knight.

Packer is a legendary college hoops analyst and Bobby Knight is one of the best coaches that ever stepped foot on the hard court. The two will be asked to analyze the 2009 NCAA tournament on the show, which is titled, "Survive and Advance."

The show will air at midnight every week for five weeks in March and April. Ironically enough, that time frame is not convenient for many people outside of the gambling community. Still, the shows producers claim that gambling will not be the reason for the show.

According to a report in the USA Today, FSN spokesman Justin Simon says there will be, "absolutely zero discussion of gambling or betting lines within the program." Just the fact that FSN is having to answer these questions about gambling, shows its importance in college basketball.

The NCAA tournament is one of the most gambled on events in the US every year. Even if no mention of gambling occurs, the location of the show itself will draw gamblers interest.

FSN also claims that they will not be shooting any of the series from inside the Wynn Las Vegas Race and Sportsbook. That has made many people question the motives of FSN even more.

"If they are not going to shoot from the sportsbook, then why be in Las Vegas at all? There are hundreds of locations the show could be shot at, but FSN has chosen Las Vegas even with the gambling cloud hanging over college basketball," said Ryan Trindley.
