Los Angeles And San Antonio Ready To Do Battle Once Again

The Los Angeles Lakers have gone from a team in turmoil before the season, to a team that is the gambling favorite to win the Western Conference.

In San Antonio it has been business as usual for the defending champion Spurs. The only difference is this year they come into the playoffs as an underdog.

The two teams are preparing to face off in what could be a lengthy series. The Lakers are favored, but the Spurs are the defending champs. Something is going to have to give.

The Lakers have the flash. They have the league MVP in Kobe Bryant, and they have a coach in Phil Jackson that knows a thing or two about NBA championships.

San Antonio is as steady a basketball team as there is around. They continually win year after year, despite not being flashy nor arrogant.

The Lakers are the gambling favorite. They have been for the better part of the second half of the season. San Antonio, however, is beginning to feel like a team of destiny. They feel behind 2-0 to New Orleans before storming back and winning the series in seven games.

In basketball, the playoffs often come down to home court advantage. The Lakers have that, plus the best player in basketball, so they should emerge as Western Conference champions.
