Los Angeles Lakers Betting On Ending Houston Rockets Streak

The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are two teams that are making a mockery of the preseason predictions in the Western Conference of the NBA. Neither team was predicted to compete for the top spot in the conference entering the final months of the season.

Surprise. Surprise. Not only have both teams surpassed expectations, but they are now playing a game today that could put one of them as the front runner to win the conference title.

The Los Angeles Lakers started the season with controversy swirling as to whether their star player, Kobe Bryant, would be traded away. Then, with one trade for Pau Gasol, the Lakers transformed themselves into a powerhouse.

All the Rockets have done is flirt with basketball immortality. Houston is in the midst of one of the longest winning streak in the history of the game. They have done the back end of the streak without Yao Ming, who was lost to a season ending injury.

Today, the two teams meet in a much talked about game in Houston. Many experts had predicted that the Rockets streak would end in this game, but an injury to Gasol has made the task of ending the streak tougher for the conference leading Lakers.

The game has been switched to a national television game, with the winner coming out as the favorite to represent the western Conference in the NBA finals.
