Major League Baseball Betting Begins With Spring Training Openers
Betting on Major League Baseball spring training games is anything but an exact science. For those gamblers, however, that have been waiting since the fall for more baseball, there wishes have been answered in the form of exhibition games.
This week, all baseball teams will get their first look at rosters that have been assembled in the off season. Although star players will come out of the gates playing only minimally, gamblers will still take shots to win some money.
The teams, themselves, will be looking to fill out their rosters with major league talent. That may mean an extended look at some of the possible future stars of their organizations. Whether or not these stars are prepared to play in the big leagues will be for the managers to decide.
One team that comes into this season with far less pressure than last year is the New York Yankees. With new additions Mark Teixeira and C.C. Sabathia, and steroid questions surrounding Alex Rodriguez, last year's spring training for the Yankees was circus-like.
After winning the World Series for the first time since 2000, however, the Yankees seem to be a much more relaxed, confident bunch as they arrive this year. New York will face their usual competition from the Boston Red Sox for supremacy in the American League East.
Spring training games have begun, and that means excitement for fans of all baseball teams. For gamblers, it simply signifies the end of football, and the start of a long summer of baseball betting.
