Major League Baseball Loses Gamble On Weather In Game Five

Leave it to Major League Baseball to take what could possibly be the most scared game in a long time for Philadelphia Phillies fans, and turn it into a fiasco.

The league decided to start game five on Monday night in Philadelphia despite the threat of horrible weather on the radars. They were gambling that the game would be completed before the weather moved in.

They have now lost that bet. The game was being played through horrendous conditions for several innings before the commissioner and the crew chief decided to stop the game in the middle of the sixth.

Coincidentally, the top of that inning is when the Rays scored the tying run in the game. Had they not scored, Major League Baseball would have been looking at a potentially devastating set of circumstances.

If the Rays did not score and then the game was stopped in the middle of the sixth for a delay, that would have been fine. However, had they not been able to resume the game tonight. the Phillies would have been crowned World Champions in their clubhouse.

As it is, the game has been stopped and the game is tied. If they are not able to resume the game tonight, they will pick up where they left off the next time the two teams hit the field.

There is no guarantee that will occur tomorrow, either. The weather in Philly is expected to be worse on Tuesday than it was on Monday.
