Mets Catcher, Paul Lo Duca, Gambles Too Much on Ponies
It was reported today by the New York Daily News that Mets catcher Paul Lo Doca has run up unmanageable gambling debts.
Lo Duca, who divorced his wife earlier in the year because of allegedly cheating on her, says he loves betting on the ponies but never bets on Major League Baseball games.
Major League Baseball does not disallow its players from gambling at casinos or racetracks, but they frown upon players running up gambling debts that they reportedly cannot handle.
Lo Duca talked to the Daily News about his former wife, Sonia, who posed for Playboy in 2001, saying, "We decided to get a divorce six months ago and I wish it didn't happen, but it happens."
He assured MLB that he has never bet on the sport and that he only loves the ponies.
