Miami Gambling on Tuna and Dolphins Swimming in Same School

Bill Parcells has built a career around taking teams that are at the bottom of the NFL feeding pool and making them championship organizations. The Miami Dolphins would definitely be considered a team that is currently in dire straights.

The match seems made in heaven. Parcells was reportedly headed to Atlanta on Wednesday morning, but after telling Falcons owner of an increased offer from Miami, those talks fell through.

By Wednesday night it appeared only formalities remained before Parcells would be named the Vice President of Football Operations for the Dolphins.

That means that the Tuna will assume the role of overseeing everything that goes on in the organization from a football standpoint.

On a team that has won only one game this year, job stability is not high with Parcells coming in. None of the current coaching staff or the GM are perceived as Parcell's people, meaning there could be many changes in the organization at the end of the season.

Parcell's track record is phenomenal when it comes to rebuilding poor teams. He won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. He rebuilt the New England Patriots, who have turned into the model of the NFL under Parcell's disciple Bill Belichick.

The Jets were another of his projects, but his latest resurrection is currently taking the NFL by storm. The Dallas Cowboys are enjoying a sensational season thanks to personnel decisions that were made by Parcell's. He believed in the talent of current superstar quarterback Tony Romo while others doubted.

Now the Dolphins have come calling and the master will go to work in what just might be his swan song in the NFL. If he can turn this mockery of a franchise into a winner, he will cement his legacy as one of the best talent evaluators in the history of the NFL.
