MLB All Star Game Betting Odds: As Usual, American League Favored
There was a time when the National League dominated the Major League Baseball All-Star game. That time, however, has long come and gone, and it is not the American League that reigns supreme in the Mid-Summer Classic.
The American League has won the game thirteen consecutive years, during which, the National League had some of the top players of all-time. Included in the list of losers are Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera, who will suit up for the American League tonight.
Despite the dominance, the American League is only a slight favorite to win tonight. The All-Star game betting odds posted at online sports books have the American League with odds of -122, and the National League returning odds of +112. The total for the game is 8.5, suggesting a relatively low scoring affair.
Those who want to take a little more of a gamble can play the variations of laying runs. American League gamblers can receive odds of +164 if they want to lay 1.5 runs. Bold bettors may choose the National League -1.5 runs and receive odds of +170.
The totals can also be played anywhere from five to twelve. Of course, the easier the bet appears, the worse the odds for the gambler. Long gone are the days of one simple betting line for bettors to choose from. Sports books have caught on to the idea that the more options, the more money that is bet.
Leading the American League team this year will be Derek Jeter, Ichiro, Cabrera, and Robinson Cano. On the mound, David Price will get his first All-Star start, and plenty of power arms will back him up.
The National League will be able to parade out Ubaldo Jimenez, Tim Lincecum, and a slew of relievers. The offense for the National League is led by Hanley Ramirez, Ryan Braun, David Wright, and Martin Prado, the league's leading hitter.
