MLB Betting Could Change After Angels Sweep Of Phillies
The Boston Red Sox won the World Series last year. That is usually good enough to put a team near the top of the gambling favorites to win again the next season.
That was the case this year. Sports books all across the board have made the Red Sox the gambling favorites to not only win the American League, but also the World Series.
This weekend, however, the Anaheim Angels, who have been baseball's most consistent team, made their case to become the favorites. The Angels swept division leader Philadelphia in an inter-league match up.
The Phillies came in playing decent baseball, but Anaheim beat them in every phase of the game over the three game sweep. The Angels still have to contend with the A's in the American League West, but a few more performances like the one this weekend could make it tough on the entire league to keep up.
The Angels are getting strong starting pitching from their ace, John Lackey, and also from the rest of the staff. Their bullpen has the best back end in baseball with James Shields and Francisco Rodriguez. Their offense still has not fully come around, but Vladimir Guerrero is heating up, which is bad news for the rest of the league.
