MLB Betting Preview: Interleague Play Ends This Weekend

Bud Selig will spend this weekend patting himself on the back for his creation of Interleague baseball. Interleague play ends for this season this weekend, and rivalry series will be played in cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and Texas.

The New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers were perhaps the biggest rivals in baseball history, but that rivalry ended when the Dodgers picked up and left New York for the laid back Los Angeles area.

This weekend, the Yankees and Dodgers will hook up in L.A., and manager Joe Torre will once again be facing the team that he led to multiple championships in the nineties. Manny Ramirez, a noted Yankees-killer, will be in the lineup for the Dodgers and not the Red Sox when he tries to continue his dominance over New York.

The Yankees come into the series with the best record in baseball, and they have accomplished that feat without two of their biggest stars, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira being hot at the same time in the first three months of the season. New York is getting an MVP-type season from second baseman Robinson Cano.

In Chicago, two underachieving teams square off, with one team rebounding from a slow start and the other still floundering. The White Sox have played well of late, and have climbed back into the AL Central race. The Cubs have yet to perform to their expectations, and may soon be sellers as the trade deadline nears.

In Texas, the Rangers will host intrastate rival Houston. The Astros are going nowhere fast and may soon unload veterans such as Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, and Roy Oswalt to contending teams. The Rangers are the surprise of the league so far, sitting in first place in the American League West.
