MLB Championship Series Betting: Yankees, Dodgers, Favored
The Los Angeles Dodgers were in this same position a year ago. They swept their divisional playoff series, and had the Philadelphia Phillies waiting for them in the championship series. This year, however, odds makers believe the Dodgers will reverse their previous fate.
Last year, the Phillies defeated L.A. 4-1 and went on to win the World Series. This season may be different, however, with the Dodgers fielding a much more experienced team that a season ago. Los Angeles has odds of -120, compared to Philadelphia's even money price.
In the American League, an old favorite returns to the championship series. The New York Yankees have the most World Series titles in MLB history, and they will be looking to add to that number this year. Their opponent will be the Angels.
The Angels are +160, and the Yankees are -180. New York, as they usually are when it gets this late in the post season, are heavy favorites. That does not mean, however, that the Angels should be counted out.
The Angels once again cruised to an American League West title and if that did not turn heads, their three game sweep of Boston in the divisional series should have done the trick. The Angels will throw their ace, John Lackey, in game one on Friday night. he will be opposed by C.C. Sabathia for New York.
Game one of the National League championship series gets under way on Thursday in Los Angeles. The Phillies will open the series with Cole Hamels on the mound, and the Dodgers will counter with Randy Wolf.
