MLB Playoff Betting Odds: Can Atlanta Overtake Colorado?
At this point in the Major League Baseball season there is usually a high amount of drama at ballparks across the country. Divisional races and wild card playoff spots are on the line, and one mistake could cost a team their season. Not this year.
Entering the final weekend of play there is only two real races that could be considered stressful. The Colorado Rockies lead the Atlanta Braves by three games for the National League wild card, and Detroit leads Minnesota by two games in the AL Central.
That is because most of the top teams have established themselves early this season and have wrapped up division titles. The Yankees have won the American League East and the Angels have done the same in the West. The Central is coming down to the wire with Detroit and Minnesota.
In the National League, the Phillies magic number to clinch the East is one, as is the Dodgers in the West. The Cardinals have already won the Central division. The wild card is a battle between the Rockies and Braves.
Atlanta has surged over the past couple of weeks and had the Colorado lead down to two games on Tuesday. Then, they lost a game when they lost and Colorado won in dramatic extra innings fashion.
The AL central will be decided could be decided in the next two days. The twins and Tigers are finishing up a four game series and if Detroit wins both games the race would be over. Atlanta and Colorado could come down to the weekend.
