MLB Playoff Betting: Yankees And Angels Begin ALCS Tonight
The New York Yankees were supposed to be here. Anything less than a World series title would be a disappointment this season and the Yankees are now just four wins away from having the opportunity to complete their mission.
The Los Angeles Angels are also a team that may expected to be in the World Series. Although they are not as heavily publicized as the Yankees, the Angels have been consistently the better team than New York over the past five years.
Tonight, the two teams, with contrasting styles meet in New York for game one of the American League Championship Series. The Yankees are the betting favorites, but nobody is counting out an Angels team that has had much success against New York in the playoffs in recent years.
The Angels are a team that is built on their speed. They run early and often, and have a great match up with the Yankees catchers. It will be up to New York's starting pitching to keep Chone Figgins, Bobby Abreu, and the rest of the boys off the bases.
The Yankees are a team that is built around their bats. Alex Rodriguez appears to have broken out of his career long playoff slump in the ALDS, and Mark Teixeira may be the MVP of the American League this year. They still have some guy name Jeter playing shortstop for them as well.
Los Angeles and the Yankees have both built clubs that pride themselves on how they do in the playoffs. Just getting there is not good enough, and tonight begins the journey that will land one of them at the doorstep of a championship.
