MLB Teams Gambling On Trade Talent To Get Them To The Playoffs
In Major League Baseball more than any other sport trades that occur right before the deadline can have a huge impact on who makes the playoffs. This year will be no different.
Teams will be gambling on renting talent for the rest of the year to see if they can make a run at the playoffs. It is still days away from the actual deadline, but already teams have made significant moves.
The Milwaukee Brewers started the player movement by making a splash when they landed C.C. Sabathia from the Cleveland Indians. The Brewers have since made a strong push towards first place in the National League Central.
The Cubs have countered that move with one of their own. The went out and picked up Oakland A's ace Rich Harden. That move sures up a team that already was the favorite in the division.
The Yankees and Dodgers got into the trading zone over this weekend. New York picked up Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte from Pittsburgh in exchange for their top minor league outfield prospect.
On Saturday, Los Angeles went out and acquired Casey Blake from the Indians. With the trading deadline looming, more moves will be made, and one of the moves could be good enough to help a team win the World Series.
