NASCAR Gambling Becoming Increasingly Popular While Daytona 500 Nears
NASCAR has built themselves an empire. A sport that used to be as boring as watching paint dry, has become one of the most popular sports in the United States.
It has taken a while, but gamblers are finally catching up to the popularity of the sport. Today, more than in any other time in history, gamblers are placing major bets on auto racing.
If you take a look in any casino in Las Vegas, you will surely be able to find a line on who will win upcoming races. There is also bets being placed on different aspects of racing. For instance, a gambler can bet on which model car will win the Daytona 500.
Big companies have flocked to NASCAR. Take a look at any team. The drivers and the cars are plastered with advertisements. That advertisers are spending big bucks to sponsor these drivers and teams shows just how relevant the racing world has become in today's society.
The odds are currently out for who will win the 2008 Sprint Cup Championship. Jimmie Johnson is the favorite. He has won the cup two years in a row and appears ready to make a run at a third championship.
Jeff Gordon has won many races in his career. He will go down in history as one of the top drivers of all timer. He is the second choice to win the cup this year.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., following the footsteps of his legendary father, is the third choice.
As long as sports books keep offering lines, and television continues to give NASCAR the exposure that it currently enjoys, the sport of auto racing will be wagered on for many years to come.
