NBA Betting Odds: Denver And Memphis Making Heads Turn
Whenever experts talk about the NBA and possible finals match ups, the discussion always begins with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. There are two other teams in the West, however, that have been turning heads with their play of late.
The Denver Nuggets were a team that many expected to make a run at the defending champion Lakers. Denver made it all the way to the conference finals last season, and with a full year of Chauncey Billups, anything was possible.
Whatever the expectations were, Denver is exceeding them. The Nuggets have been the hottest team in the West, and they have kept their hot streak going in the last week without the services of Carmelo Anthony.
Another team making waves in the Western Conference is the Memphis Grizzlies. All of the analysts attacked the Grizzlies when they traded away Pau Gasol to the Lakers a few seasons ago. Now, however, the Grizzlies are one of the youngest and surprising teams in the league.
They are led by a resurgent Zach Randolph, who is putting up double-doubles on an almost nightly basis. Then there is Mike Conley, OJ Mayo, Marc Gasol, and Rudy Gay. After defeating the Lakers on Monday night, nobody will be overlooking Memphis down the stretch.
Over in the East, the Atlanta Hawks are making a strong case for being the second bets team in the conference behind the Cavaliers. The Orlando Magic have also played better this past week after going through a rough stretch. Boston, a pre-season favorite, is looking less and less like a title contender with every passing game.
