NBA Betting Odds Favor San Antonio over Cleveland in Finals
The story of this year's NBA playoffs has been young phenom LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Whether it has been criticism for passing away the last shot in game one of the conference finals, or praise, for the way he took over the back end of that series, all the focus has been on him.
On the other side of tonight's opening game of the finals is San Antonio, led by perhaps the greatest power forward of all time in Tim Duncan.
The finals are ready to tip off and the Spurs come in as overwhelming favorites according to oddsmakers. To bet on San Antonio to win the series will mean a gambler would have to lay $525 to win $100. On the flip side, anyone wanting to take a chance on LeBron and the boys will have to put up $100 to win $350.
There are many different ways that are available to gamble on the finals. One way is to pick the MVP of the series. Duncan is the favorite for that award at -280, followed by James at +180. Others listed are Tony Parker +500 and Manu Ginobli +750, and long shots Ilgauskas +1000, Finley +1200, Gooden and Hughes +1800, or you can take the field of other players not listed.
Another interesting proposition listed for the finals is the over under on points per game average by the teams' two stars. For James, the number is 26.5 at -180 either way, and for Duncan 23.5 -180.
If you feel real lucky you can bet on the exact number of games that each team will win the series in.
Tonight's game one has the Spurs favored by 7.5 points and the total for the game is 179.5. Game time is set for 9:00pm and will be played in San Antonio, the Spurs have home court advantage for the series and the format is 2-3-2. ABC will televise the entire finals.
