The Orlando Magic were playing so well down the stretch in the regular season that many analysts believed, they, and not the Cleveland Cavaliers, were the best team in the East. That theory looked even better after the Magic swept through the first two rounds of the playoffs.

With Cleveland losing to the Boston Celtics in the second round, it looked like a lock that the Magic would make their way back to the NBA Finals. After three games, however, it is Boston, and not Orlando, on the brink of an Eastern Conference championship.

The Celtics have dominated the Magic in every phase of the game through the first three match ups. They handily defeated the Magic in Orlando, and then followed up those two impressive wins with another blowout performance in game three at home. Now, the Magic will have to win in Boston tonight just to get the series to a game five.

Boston came into the playoffs looking like a team poised to bow out in the first round. Their older players looked to be showing their age, and the defense that carried them to a title two years ago seemed to have disappeared. Then the playoffs began, and everything started to click again.

Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, and Paul Pierce have been too much for Dwight Howard to handle, and the best player on the floor for the first three games may have been point guard Rajon Rondo. On the Magic side, Rashard Lewis, Matt Barnes, and Vince Carter have been almost non-existent.

Boston is the betting favorite in game four, and nothing in the body language of the Magic at the end of game three indicates that they have any fight left in them for tonight's game. Unless they find some motivation between now and this evening, it could be lights out on what was once a promising Orlando magic season.
