NBA Betting Odds: Will LeBron's Injury Derail Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have done everything this season with the intent on being the number one seed in the league and being healthy when the playoffs began. Up until just a couple of days ago, their plan had worked perfectly.
Now, however, as Cleveland prepares for their second round match up with the Boston Celtics, an injury to LeBron James' elbow threatens to tear down everything that the Cavs have worked for up until this point. James says the injury will not slow him down, but even he cannot escape the possibility to the contrary.
James had to shoot one of two free throws left handed in the final minutes of the closeout game against Chicago earlier this week. While some analysts believe the shot was done for effect, others are wary that The King may be more hurt than he is letting on. If that is the case, Boston's odds of a series upset become much higher.
The defending champion Los Angeles Lakers are finding out just how hard it is to win with an injured superstar. With Kobe Bryant having several injuries, the Lakers are struggling against the eighth seeded Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers have much more depth and a stronger complimentary group that LeBron has in Cleveland, making the second round battle with Boston even more scary for Cavs fans.
Over the past two seasons, Cleveland has had little trouble getting through the first two rounds of the playoffs. The conference finals have been a stalling point, and this year, a powerful Orlando Magic team could be waiting even if the Cavaliers get passed the Celtics in round two.
As for the first round series' that are still not complete, all are sitting at 3-2. San Antonio, Utah, and Milwaukee all will have the opportunity to close out their series' at home. L.A. will attempt to finish their series on the road in Oklahoma City on Friday night.
