NBA Betting Preview: Bryant's Drive Will Win Lakers Title
After months of navigating through a grueling playoff schedule, NBA fans will finally get the end result they have been searching for. The NBA Finals tip off tomorrow in L.A., and the Lakers and Celtics are both looking to secure their place in history.
In the past two seasons, Boston and Los Angeles have taken turns hoisting the championship trophy. It was the Celtics in 2008, and the Lakers last season. Now, the championship series plays out with the winner going up two to one.
Boston has taken an unlikely path to reach the finals. The Celtics blasted an undermanned Heat team, then ousted the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference in succession. Not many analysts believed Boston would win one of those series, never mind both.
Now, however, the Celtics travel across the US to face the defending champions, and no matter how the match ups are broken down, one player stands out above all the rest. Kobe Bryant is putting together perhaps his best post season ever, and he is just four games from becoming a five time4 champion.
The fact that his Lakers are facing the hated Celtics is not what drives Bryant, he said as much himself on Wednesday. No, what drives Bryant is the pursuit of Michael Jordan. Everything Bryant has done has been modeled after MJ, and Bryant has the look i his eye of a man who is not going to be denied until he reaches his goal.
The Phoenix Suns played well for four games in the Western Conference finals, but it was Bryant who broke their will with ridiculous shot after ridiculous shot in game six. Now, the Celtics will get a chance to experience what true will means. The series will be close, but in the end, it will be Bryant's drive that carries the Lakers to another title.
