NBA Betting Preview: Hawks Look To Rebound From Embarrassment
The Atlanta Hawks showed how mentally tough they can be in the first round of the playoffs when they rallied from a 3-2 series deficit to beat the Milwaukee Bucks. After game one of their second round series with Orlando, the Hawks will again have to show their toughness.
Atlanta came into the Orlando series riding the emotion of having won games six and seven of their previous series in impressive fashion. Atlanta left game one, however, having been embarrassed by the Magic in a game that almost ended up as a fifty point loss.
Now, the Hawks return to the scene of the crime tonight. Orlando is playing with unprecedented confidence, and their execution has matched their confidence through the first five games of their post season.
Atlanta will have to get much more out of their key players if they are going to make this a series worth watching. The Hawks were dominated inside by Dwight Howard, and the perimeter play was downright awful in game one.
The Hawks have pushed some top teams in the past couple of years. Two years ago, they went to a game seven with the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics. They undoubtedly have the talent to play with any team in their league.
Their commitment to team play and their focus has been two things that have been questioned throughout the year. The Hawks have about two hours to find both, or they will be heading back to Atlanta with a 2-0 series deficit against a team that has shown a killer instinct when getting up in playoff series'.
