NBA Betting Preview: Jazz Out To Show Lakers They Are For Real

The Los Angeles Lakers have been pushed slightly the passed two years in the playoffs, but never enough to make LA sweat. The Utah Jazz could be the team that stands between the Lakers and a third straight finals appearance come playoff time this year.

The Jazz have flown under the radar for much of the season. That will change tonight in Utah can go into Los Angeles and hand the Lakers their fourth loss in their last five games.

Utah has been the best team in the NBA in the second half of the season. Several weeks ago, the Jazz started gaining attention from NBA analysts. The attention coincided with a rise in the standings that has left Utah as the possible number two seed going into the Western Conference playoffs.

Dallas and Denver, two teams that had their moment in the sun earlier this year, have both fell off of late. Phoenix, another team that has been streaky, is hot on the heels of both Dallas and Denver.

The Lakers, meanwhile, have been playing sloppy basketball for much of the second half of the year. They have been unable to stay healthy for long periods of time, and have been blown out several times in the past couple of weeks.

Tonight, Los Angeles gets to take a little pressure off themselves if they can defeat Utah convincingly. A Lakers win will show that they have just been staggering through the season and that they can turn it off and on when they want to.

A loss, however, and the Western Conference suddenly become wide open. If the Lakers falter, all of the aforementioned teams would be ready to pounce, but perhaps none would be in a better position to dethrone the Lakers than Utah.
