NBA Betting Preview: Lakers Look To Take Command Of Jazz Series
The Los Angeles Lakers understand that the NBA playoffs are a grind. They also understand that repeating as NBA champions is not an easy task, as evidenced by their six game first round series with Oklahoma City.
After winning a tight game six in Oklahoma, Los Angeles had a quick turnaround before opening the second round against Utah. In game one, Los Angeles starters provided the effort necessary to take a 1-0 lead.
Tonight, the series resumes in L.A. and the Lakers will need more of a contribution from their bench if they are going to breeze through the Jazz series. The bench has continually been given double digit leads this post season, only to have them disappear when the bench entered the game.
Kobe Bryant looked like the Bryant of old for the first time in weeks in game one. The Lakers superstar closed out game one with a double digit fourth quarter, and will look to continue his hot shooting tonight.
Many analysts believe that the Lakers length is simply to big of an obstacle for Utah to overcome. Without their starting center, Mehmet Okur, the Jazz have been unable to handle Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol dominance, and Utah will head home with a 2-0 deficit in the series.
The Jazz and Lakers are playing for the right to face either Phoenix or San Antonio in the conference finals. A Lakers series win would have the defending champions halfway towards their goal of repeating.
