NBA Betting Preview: Lakers Looking To Derail Nuggets

The Los Angeles Lakers have been the team to beat in the Western Conference now for the better part of the past three years. This year, however, the Denver Nuggets are making a run to steal home court advantage away from the Lakers.

Denver, not Los Angeles, has been the more consistent team over the past couple of months. They have now gotten themselves within 4.5 games of L.A. going into a big match up today. The Lakers must win today to show that they are still the team to beat out West.

L.A. has not had much luck against Denver so far this season. They have lost both games the two teams have played, and Denver has dominated the games. A win today on the Lakers home court could shake up what everyone believed was an easy run for L.A. through the Western Conference playoffs.

Denver is led by Carmelo Anthony, but it is the addition of Chauncey Billups, and a full year of meshing, that has Denver playing their best ball in years. They seem to have all the pieces in place to make another run like they did last season near the end.

The Lakers beat the Nuggets in six games last year in the conference finals. They wore Denver down as the series went on, and in the end they had too much fire power for the Nuggets to handle. This season, however, Denver looks more than equipped to give the Lakers a run.

Other teams have been playing well at West of late. Dallas and Phoenix both look much better than they did in the first half of the season, making the top four teams all formidable going into the stretch run of the season.
