NBA Betting Preview: LeBron James' Legacy On The Line Tonight
LeBron James has won two consecutive MVP awards. With all of the personal gains that James has made, he is still chasing some of the all time greats when it comes to championship wins. Tonight, James can take that next step in becoming immortal.
James has zero NBA titles on his resume, and if he loses tonight, he will head to free agency unable to prove to a future employer that he knows how to win in crunch time. If Boston wins at home this evening, Cleveland will have squandered the best record in the league for the second consecutive season.
Nobody predicted that this is the way it would end for the Cavaliers coming into these playoffs. Boston looked old and run down in the home stretch of the season, and Cleveland was cruising. Then, Cleveland bounced Chicago in the first round, and appeared headed towards the conference finals.
Boston, however, was equally as impressive in the first round against Miami, and has played even better in this series. The Celtics have won two games on the road in Cleveland, and now stand just one home win away from a return trip to Orlando, the team that knocked Boston out of last years playoffs.
Boston has been led by point guard Rajon Rondo. The guard who was almost traded a season ago, has been dominant against his counterpart, Mo Williams, so much so in fact, that the Cavaliers have had to move James over to guard Rondo.
That set off a trickle down effect, with James' scoring touch leaving him in game five, and Paul Pierce finally waking up for the Celtics. Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett have also performed well for Boston.
The Celtics have shown they can win big games, having won a title just two seasons ago. Now, it is James' turn to show that along with all of that talent, he also has the mental toughness to get through a tough series. If he does not, it could be the last chapter for "The King" in Cleveland.
