NBA Betting Preview: Not Much Has Changed In Past Year
For anyone who was hoping that there would be some different teams at the top of the NBA this season, the early schedule and standings indicate that it may just be more of the same.
The Los Angles Lakers are the defending NBA champions, and they again looked poised for a run at another title. The Lakers have welcomed back Pau Gasol to their lineup, and they have not lost since. They are sitting at 10-3, and their only real competition in the Pacific division may come from Phoenix.
The usual suspects can also be found at the top of the Southwest division. Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are the top three teams, with the Mavericks being the most surprising of the teams. The Spurs are only playing .500 basketball in the early going.
Portland has emerged as a team to be watched this year. The Trailblazers lead the Northwest division and Denver, who played in the conference finals last year, is right behind Portland. Utah is holding on to third place in the division.
Over in the East, there is even less change at the top of the divisions. Atlanta and Orlando are again ruling the Southeast, even after Miami's hot start. The Heat have struggled for the past two weeks.
Cleveland is one game ahead of a surprising Milwaukee team, but they are the only two teams over .500 in the division. The Cavaliers have yet to show the consistency that carried them to the best record in the league last year.
In the Atlantic, the Boston Celtics are clearly the best team and are in first place with a 10-4 record. Toronto sits in second place with a .429 winning percentage.
