The Orlando Magic were favored coming into their Eastern Conference Finals series with the Boston Celtics. Tonight, the Magic will need to win at home to avoid being bounced from this years playoffs.
The Magic had won their first eight games of the playoffs and came into the Boston series feeling unbeatable. After losing two games at home, the Magic suddenly found themselves at the mercy of a revived Boston team heading back to Boston.
The Celtics won game three, but failed to put the Magic away in game four. Orlando now has two of the next three games at home, and needs only to win their home games and steal one more in Boston to win the series.
Of course, that will be a lot easier said than done. No NBA team has ever come back and won a playoff series after being down three games to none. Even with the odds stacked against them, Orlando is still a fifty-nine win team with plenty of weapons.
The Magic will need better play from Vince Carter if they are going to extend the series. Carter was brought in to replace Hedo Turkoglu and for the regular season the move worked perfectly. Carter, however, has fallen on tough times in the Boston series.
Over in the Western Conference, the Lakers, as they have done several times in the past couple of years, have allowed their opponents back in a series. After winning the first two games at home, Los Angeles lost both games in Phoenix. Game five is set for Thursday night back in California.
