NBA Betting Preview: Season Heads Towards Home Stretch
NBA teams that have gone deep into the playoffs the past few years use the regular season as a way to get in shape heading into this year's tournament. With the post season only a month away, these teams such as Cleveland and Los Angeles are now starting to fine tune their game.
The Lakers have made two straight NBA Finals appearances. They lost two years ago to the Boston Celtics, and defeated Orlando last season. For the better part of this year, the Lakers have concerned themselves with only staying healthy.
Now, however, the urgency has been found. Head coach Phil Jackson and star player Kobe Bryant have both acknowledged that this is the time of the year that L.A. should be focused on wrapping up home court advantage in the Western Conference, and start playing at a playoff level.
Other teams will be doing the same. The Denver Nuggets and the Magic are two teams that have fallen just short of their goal of winning a title last year. The two teams are surging and appear to be prepared to give Cleveland and L.A. all they can handle in the playoffs. Dallas is another team in this group that could be a factor.
The Cavaliers have been the most consistent team all year, and they will most likely have home court advantage all the way through the playoffs. Cleveland had the same scenario last season, but lost in the conference finals to Orlando.
The Lakers and Cavaliers have been the betting favorites throughout this year, and that should not change heading into the playoffs. Bryant and LeBron James have never met in the finals, although it is something that basketball fans have been waiting several years to occur.
