NBA Betting Preview: Suns Looks For Two Game Lead On Spurs
The Phoenix Suns have had one major hurdle in reaching the NBA Finals over the past decade, the San Antonio Spurs. Again this year, the Suns and Spurs are meeting in the playoffs, with the winner heading to the Western Conference finals.
Phoenix took game one of what many analysts believe will be a long series. The Suns have an opportunity to hold serve again tonight at home, and take a two game lead in the series back to San Antonio, a place where Phoenix has had a tough time winning in the post season.
For the Suns to win, they must again get superior guard play from Steve Nash. The point guard had another MVP-like season, and played tremendously in game one against the Spurs. Amare Stoudemire has also played a large role in the Suns' resurgence this season.
After starting the season strong, Phoenix slumped in the middle of the year. After some predicted they would not make the playoffs, Phoenix finished strong and claimed the three spot in the conference. They have the home court advantage over the Spurs in their current series.
San Antonio looked great in their first round match up with Dallas. They came out sluggish, however, in the first game of the Suns series. The Spurs made a big run to make the game close, but Phoenix closed them out late.
The NBA has many off days in the playoffs and it has made for a light schedule on Wednesday. Phoenix and San Antonio will be the only teams in action. The Hawks-Magic series resumes on Thursday, the Cavaliers-Celtics series heads back to Boston on Friday, and the Lakers and Jazz head to Utah and resume their series Saturday evening.
