NBA Betting Preview: Suns Must Solve Lakers Mystery Quickly

The Phoenix Suns were one of the hottest teams coming into the NBA playoffs. After two rounds, Phoenix was playing so well that many analysts believed the Suns could dethrone the two-time defending Western Conference champions.

The Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, stumbled into the playoffs. They were pushed in their first round match up with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and that seems to have changed the Lakers' focus. In the second round, L.A. swept Utah.

Coming into the conference finals, the Suns were the hot pick. After the Lakers humiliated the Suns in game one, those same analysts that picked Phoenix to win the series now are wondering if the Suns can even win a single game.

Los Angeles showed why they have won the West for two straight seasons. Kobe Bryant was again dominant, scoring forty points, and Lamar Odom reminded everyone that he could be a starting player on every other team in the league.

This time of year, the Lakers are known for sending messages, and the message to the Suns was loud and clear. If Phoenix thought they could win simply by keeping the tempo fast-paced, they had better reconsider. Instead of wilting under the fast pace, L.A. thrived, beating Phoenix at their own game.

Tonight becomes almost a do or die game for the Suns. If they win, the critics will be silenced and they can return home with the series split they desired on the road. Another bad loss, however, and it could be a quick series leading to a long off season for Phoenix.
