NBA Championship Betting Could Hinge On Home Court Advantage
The NBA has had a battle going on for several months now, and it is one that not many people even know exists. It does not include conference or division foes, but instead, a fight for home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers have been battling for home court advantage basically since the season has started. The two teams have not been separated by more than two games almost the entire time.
Heading into the last month of the season, Cleveland holds a one game lead over Los Angeles. The one game becomes key for the Cavaliers because the Lakers have the tiebreaker should the teams finish with the same record.
There may be even more at stake than the home court advantage. The stars of the two teams, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, are also going head to head for the league MVP award. The front runner for the award seems to change depending on which team played that particular night.
Whichever team wins the home court advantage will most likely also have the league MVP. Then, and more importantly, they will be playing on their home court for any potential game seven in the playoffs.
Combined, the two teams have lost six games on their home floor. Cleveland's only loss of the season at home came at the hands of the Lakers, while Los Angeles has lost five times at home. Los Angeles has fourteen games remaining and Cleveland plays thirteen more times in the regular season.
