NBA Conference Finals Betting Odds: Lakers And Magic Favored
For much of this season, much like last season, the talk among NBA analysts was that LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers and Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers would meet in the NBA finals. After the Cavaliers lost to Boston in the second round, however, the focus has shifted.
The conference finals begin on Sunday in Orlando and the Magic are the favorites to come out of the East. Orlando has not lost a game yet this post season, and they are a -275 choice of odds makers over the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics have been a team that has started to play their best basketball in the playoffs. After stumbling into the post season, Boston has now beaten Miami and Cleveland. By taking out the Cavaliers, Boston has reminded everyone that they were champions just two short seasons ago. Boston has odds of +245.
Over in the Western Conference, it is the same team that has been favored the past three conference finals that is again odds makers' choice. The Lakers are -340, making them the biggest favorite on the board to reach the finals. L.A. looks like they finally have a healthy Kobe Bryant, and appear poised to make a run at defending their title.
Phoenix is a team that has come out of nowhere this year to end up in the conference finals. The Suns are playing perhaps the best of any of the four teams remaining, although one would not deduce that from the odds. Phoenix is +260 to get by the Lakers.
As the playoffs wind down, there is more time allotted in between games. That gives the older Lakers and Celtics time to get their legs under them on off days. The Orlando-Boston series begins on Sunday, with the Lakers-Suns series set for prime time on Monday night.
