NBA Finals Betting Odds: Lakers Favored Over Celtics
The Los Angeles Lakers have been here before. In fact, they have been here against this same opponent. L.A. earned their third straight trip to the NBA Finals on Saturday night, and waiting for them in the finals will be the Boston Celtics.
On Thursday, a rematch of the NBA Finals from two years ago will begin. Heading into that series, Los Angeles was the betting favorite, yet the Celtics won the title. This year, the Lakers are again gambling favorites.
The Lakers will open up the series on their home court, and those who believe they will avenge that loss from two years ago can bet the Lakers with odds of -181. Gamblers that think Boston will again prevail, will be given odds of +164. While the Lakers are favored, they are not as big a favorite as they were the last time these two teams met in the finals.
After beating Phoenix, Kobe Bryant and the rest of his Lakers teammates claimed that it did not matter who they faced in the finals. Judging by Andrew Bynum's statements earlier in the Suns series, however, it seems clear that the last thing between them and a dynasty is avenging that finals loss to Boston.
The Celtics will come into game one a little banged up. Rajon Rondo took a hard fall in the series clincher against Orlando, and Glenn Davis is still trying to fend off the side effects of a concussion he suffered in game five of the Magic series.
With the Lakers holding home court advantage, it makes sense that they are also favored in game one. L.A. is -5.5 for the opener. The total of 192.5 reflects the strong defense that both teams have shown throughout the playoffs. The finals will begin on ABC at (PM on Thursday.
