NBA Finals Betting Odds: Lakers The Gambling Favorites

If the Los Angeles Lakers fail to win the NBA championship this year, it will be because they did not play up to expectations. With less than a week left until the finals begin, the Lakers have been installed as the gambling favorites in their series with the Orlando Magic.

The Magic clinched their spot in the finals by thrashing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. The series did not live up to the hype, with Orlando dominating from game one and only losing out on a series sweep after a prayer of a last second shot by James in game three.

Now they will move on to face perhaps their most difficult match up of the playoffs so far. Los Angeles is hungry to avenge last years finals loss, and they will be ready when the lights come on Thursday evening.

The Lakers are -290 to win the series. The Magic have betting odds of +240 to pull the upset. Although the odds seem long, nobody is doubting the Magic's chances after what they have done against New Jersey, Boston, and Cleveland.

This Magic team did not come out of nowhere. They were the forth best team in the league this season, according to their record. They have one of the best centers in the game in Dwight Howard, and they have a plethora of scorers that can shoot from the outside.

Their main obstacle in the finals will be to put the clamps in Kobe Bryant. He is seeking a fourth championship, but the one elusive one without Shaquille O'Neal at his side. He looks like a man that is ready to cement his legacy as one of the best NBA players of all time.

The games begin on Thursday, and the early betting line has L.A. favored by six in that game. The total for the game is listed at 206.
