NBA Finals Betting Odds: Magic Must Win Tonight, Or Else

The Orlando Magic came into the NBA Finals with a sense that they could play with the Los Angeles Lakers on every level. They were confident, coming off a six game win against the best team in the NBA, Cleveland, in the conference finals.

The Magic quickly learned, however, that life in the Eastern Conference is much different than life out West. While the Magic were easily disposing of the Cavaliers, the Lakers had their hands full in a physical match up with the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets and the Houston Rockets before them showed that these Lakers were not invincible. So when the Magic entered Staples Center for game one, they felt that they could do the same thing that Houston and Denver had done, and win a game in L.A.

That was their mind set before game one. They then proceeded to get pounded by twenty-five, and suddenly, the Lakers looked like a team driven to complete the mission that they fell short in last year. The Magic, looked battered and their egos bruised after the game.

Now, Orlando has one shot to make this a series. If they win tonight, they go home with three games at their own arena and can certainly give Los Angeles a run for the title. Should they lose, however, the NBA could be looking at a short series.

Not many experts believe the Magic can sweep all three games at home. If L.A. wins tonight, and goes up 2-0 in the series, then wins one game in Orlando, all they would have to do is win one of two at home to become champions.

That is why tonight's game is so important. For the Lakers the task is simple, win tonight, and crush any hopes the Magic had. For Orlando, survive tonight, and bring the series back home with a title shot still in hand.
