NBA Finals Betting Preview: Lakers Bryant Looks For Immortality
The NBA Finals start tonight in Los Angeles and the Lakers and their star player Kobe Bryant are looking to conquer the one team that has given them fits in the past. Bryant will be looking to cement his place among the all-time greats by beating the Boston Celtics in the finals.
Bryant has four championship rings, and a win against Boston this year will put him on par with Magic Johnson. In these playoffs, Bryant has already had redemption against Phoenix, and now he will get his chance against the team that stopped him from winning the title two years ago.
Boston understands that these Lakers are different than the team they dismantled in 2008. The Lakers, especially Pau Gasol, are tougher and will not be pushed around like they were back in '08. Ron Artest has been brought in for the sloe purpose of instilling some toughness in the Lakers.
The Celtics have emerging star Rajon Rondo running the point. Rondo has been the best player in the playoffs for Boston, and if he continues to shred defenses in the finals, the Celtics will likely be hoisting another championship trophy.
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen are all back for the Celtics. Garnett has hit his stride at the right time, and Allen has been among the Celtics shooting leaders all year. Kendrick Perkins has been an enforcer during the playoffs, rounding out one of the top starting units in the league.
The Lakers are the betting favorites in the series, and they have legendary coach Phil Jackson on the bench. Boston also has a great coach in the making in Doc Rivers. Games one and two are in Los Angeles, and three through five are in Boston. If game six and seven are necessary, they will be played in L.A.
