NBA Future Betting Odds Confirmed After Lakers Beat Celtics
The Boston Celtics are the defending NBA champions. They have picked up this season where they left off last year, and despite a small bump in the road, have looked every bit the champion that they are.
One thing the Celtics are not, however, is betting favorites to win again this year. That distinction goes to the Los Angeles Lakers. They have been made the favorites by sports books and on Thursday the Lakers showed why.
Los Angeles went into Boston and won a thrilling overtime game against the Celtics. The win completed a two game sweep over Boston and guaranteed Los Angeles home court advantage in the Finals, assuming both teams make it to the finals and finish with the same record at the end of the year.
The game itself did not show much of a difference in the two teams as far as talent goes. If anything, Boston could be happy they kept the game so close after Kevin Garnett fouled out for only the second time this year.
Next up for the Lakers comes another prime match up. They will be in Cleveland on Sunday to face LeBron James and the Cavs. Kobe Bryant and James both torched the Knicks in the Garden this week, and they are fighting tooth and nail for the MVP award.
Regardless of who wins Sunday and who wins the MVP, the bigger goal for both Bryant and James is an NBA championship. Right now, the odds makers have the Lakers as the favorites, and after Thursday's game in Boston it is hard to argue their logic.
