Well, we all know what happened to the former defensive player of the year next; his trade demand, his suspension, his subsequent deal and then his bizarre reaffirmation amongst NBA observers after helping the Sacramento Kings make the NBA playoffs.
But just as Artest?s Cinderella story was set for completion with the Kings going shot-for-shot with the defending champion Spurs, the mercurial forward suffered a sprained ankle in a crucial Game 6. As a result, Sacramento lost the game 105-83 and Artest was free to hit the recording studio for the next five months.
