NBA Has Some Surprising Teams At The Top Early In Season
The Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat are two of the favorites to get to the NBA finals this year, however both have stumbled out of the gates.
The Heat seem to be following the same pattern that led them to a title last year, which is starting slowly and catching momentum toward the end of the year. Their record is 3-3 so far.
Dallas, on the other hand, can't seem to do anything right in the early parts of the '06-'07 season. They are having trouble scoring as well as playing defense, and their leader Dirk Nowitzki hasn't found a way to shake the slump he encountered halfway through the NBA finals last year. The Mavs are currently 2-4.
The Clippers, long thought to be the door mat of the NBA, has started quickly at 5-1 and look to be challengers for the Pacific division title.
Utah, another team that struggled last year is off to a 6-1 start along with San Antonio, who is 5-1.
In the East, Atlanta is shocking everybody early this year by starting off 4-2 and leading the southeast division.
Cleveland, led by Lebron James, also has started quickly at 4-2.
The league enters its third week of play tonight.
