NBA Playoff Betting Odds: Game Ones Go According To Seed
Gamblers like to take a chance early in the NBA playoffs and see if they can pick some upsets. Any bettor that took that chance this past weekend was not happy as the first games of all the first round series' came to an end.
Of all the underdogs, Portland was the only team left late Sunday night to try and pull a first game upset. All other seven road teams gave it their best shot, but came up empty on their opponents home floor.
The team that most analysts thought had the best chance at a first round upset was Miami. Boston, however, had different ideas, using a tremendous run in the second half to seize control of game one and the series. Miami will try to win game two when Boston will be without Kevin Garnett, suspended for an elbow thrown at Quentin Richardson.
The Oklahoma Thunder are the youngest team in this year's playoffs and many fans believed their young legs would give the aging defending champion Lakers a run for their money. Los Angeles put that to rest, coming out aggressive inside early, and coasting to a win in L.A.
Dallas and San Antonio was another match up where analysts saw the Spurs giving the Mavericks fits. Dallas is the second best team in the West, and they showed that on Sunday, handling San Antonio in game one of their series.
Orlando, Cleveland, Denver, and Atlanta all did their part to protect home court advantage. The Cavaliers, much like they did last year in the early rounds, cruised to an easy win against Chicago. Game twos of several of the playoff series' will be played on Monday.
