The NBA playoffs begin this weekend and many teams in the league still do not know who they will be matched up against. With two days left in the regular season, teams are jockeying for position and trying to avoid potentially dangerous match ups.
The Western Conference has been the stronger of the two conferences for the entire season. The eighth seed in the conference currently has a better record than the fifth team in the East.
Even after beating each other up all year long, the Western conference playoff teams are playing for position tonight and Wednesday. The only team that is locked into their spot is Los Angeles. The Lakers are the top seed in the West.
Dallas currently holds the number two spot and is in position to go into the playoffs there if they can win their last game of the year. Denver, Utah, and Phoenix are battling for the number three spot.
Further down, Portland, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City are all trying to avoid having to face Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in the first round. L.A. has been struggling of late, but will get Andrew Bynum back for their playoff run.
In the East, the Cavaliers and Magic have locked up the number one and two seeds. Atlanta will be the three seed with one more win, locking Boston into the four spot. Chicago is a half game up on Toronto in the race for the final playoff position. The Bulls have two games remaining and the Raptors just one.
