NBA Playoff Gambling Still Favoring Home Teams
The NBA playoffs are not used to seeing upsets. The home teams usually hold serve, and the higher seeds more likely than not, win championships.
That certainly looks to be the case so far in the conference semi-finals. All four series' had the home team win the first two games at home. With the series' shifting to the road teams home, the favorites looked unbeatable.
All that happened in games three and four was a reversal of fortune. The home cooking kicked in for Utah, San Antonio, and Cleveland. The three teams won both games at home, and evened the series'.
The only team to lose at home so far this round is Orlando. They had a one point loss to Detroit. The Pistons return home as the only one of the favored teams that can wrap up their series at home in game five.
The Lakers and Hornets return home for game five, but both teams played poorly in their two road losses. Los Angeles fans are holding their breath due to Kobe Bryant's sore back. Boston, after tonight's loss, also heads home for a fifth game.
Detroit would have a major rest advantage should they be able to close out the Magic in five. Gamblers will most likely be riding the momentum of the home teams when the series' shift again the rest of this week.
