NBA Playoff Odds: Celtics And Lakers Betting Favorites

It has been a long time since both the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers were at the top of the NBA standings together. This year, they are both number one seeds, and gambling favorites to meet in the finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers were possibly just days away from losing their franchise player Kobe Bryant last off season. Somehow, management and coach Phil Jackson convinced Bryant that the team would be competitive.

Not only were they competitive, but they enter the playoffs as the number one seed in the Western Conference, and Bryant is the favorite for the leagues MVP award.

In Boston, they made waves on draft day and throughout the off season. They acquired Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen through trades. That transformed them from bottom dwellers, to the best team in the East. They are the favorites to not only meet the Lakers in the finals, but to beat them as well.

Boston heads into the playoffs with odds of +200 in sports books. The Lakers are +380. The defending champion San Antonio Spurs are the third choice at +550, followed by the Detroit Pistons at +680.

After those teams, no other team has odds of worse than ten to one. The Suns are 10-1, and the surprising New Orleans Hornets are 15-1.

The long shots of the playoff teams are both from the East. Philadelphia and Atlanta both go into the playoffs as 150-1 underdogs.
