NBA Playoff Odds: Lakers Must Regroup In A Hurry
Many NBA experts thought that the Lakers were going to have an easy ride through the Western Conference playoffs on their way to the Finals. Those experts must have forgot to tell the Houston Rockets that they were supposed to lay down.
The Rockets went into L.A. on Monday night and stole the first game of their series with the Lakers. It was not that the Rockets won that was surprising, but the ease by which it happened.
Now, Los Angeles is in a must win situation for game two tonight. If they lose again, they will head to Houston down 2-0, odds that are almost insurmountable for teams going on the road for games three and four.
Of course, nobody expects that the Lakers will squander another game at home tonight. Kobe Bryant had a terrible shooting night in game one, and so did the rest of the Lakers. They had a little longer of a layoff between series' which may have accounted for some of the rust.
If Los Angeles took the Rockets for granted before game one, they certainly will not in game two. They know the importance of going back to Houston with the series tied up.
From the Rockets point of view, this game is also of utmost importance. A split might have been what they were searching for, but a two game lead would be beyond their wildest dreams. The Lakers did sweep the season series from Houston, so they know they can win on the road.
